I've been spending too much time reading books to update this. So I'm going to give you some authors to check out in the meantime. ;)

In no particular order:

Alan Dean Foster - Usually an easy read. I'm especially fond of his Flinx Series and anything taking place in his universe, the Commonwealth. His "Journeys of the Catechist" are a must read.

Lois McMaster Bujold - This woman will always stand out in my mind for creating great stories and the Uterine Replicator. A must have for the active woman. I'm holding off child bearing until Scientists catch up with her ideas.

Marion Zimmer Bradley - Check out her Darkover Series. A nice blend of Fantasy and Sci-Fi.

Terry Pratchett - On Discworld, no subject is sacred. He's a funny British Author who will lampoon any topic. My favorite characters are DEATH, Nanny Ogg, and the Luggage. The first book in the series is "The Color of Magic".

J. V. Jones - This woman writes with a gritty edge I've not seen in other books. I find it most interesting. The language and subject material I find more appropriate to Adults.

Tad Williams - His Trilogy starting with "The Dragon Bone Chair" is one of the few I've read more than once.

L. E. Modesitt - Author of a very good series of books pitting Chaos against Order.

Raymond E. Feist - Creator of a rich universe with magicians, warriors, time and space travel. Very well written. Also co-authored some novels with Janny Wurts.

Janny Wurts - Creator of series and stand alone novels. Very talented author who even does her own cover artwork.

Others I haven't time to describe at the moment:

Sarah Douglass, Robert Jordan, David Eddings, David Gemmel... to be continued.
